Moana

Moana

Does anyone of you know who Moana is?  Well she is an adventurous teenager that sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, she meets the once-mighty demigod Maui, who guides her in her quest to become a master way-finder. Together they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds. Along the way, this adventurous young lady fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she always sought: her own identity.

I got to meet Moana last Sunday

As a children, High School Senior and Family Photography Studio it was a treat to see Moana in Sudbury last Sunday at the Glama Gal Tween Spa (www.glamagalparty.com/), (www.glamagalparty.com/locations/sudbury).  She was very happy to see 6 young fans come in and spend a couple of hours with her.  They were first treated to a small meal and a cold pink tea as the young chieftain’s daughter told them stories of her exciting adventures.  The little princesses were then taken to an adjacent room which looked to me like a powder room and a play room at the same time.  They had to choose which make-up and which nail polish they wanted Moana and the staff to apply on their faces and finger nails for a simple makeover.  I watched these young ladies smile with glee as makeup was brushed on their face and nail polish applied on their nails.

Other adventures

When the makeover was completed it was story time and Moana read them some amazing stories.  This was followed by dancing, games, a scavenger hunt and then the crowning ceremony.  They were briefed on how to salute and twirl like princesses prior to being crowned.  Each little princess was crowned with beautiful Tiara which they got to bring home.  They also had to choose a small gift from the treasure board.

A great experience

All in all this was truly and amazing experience for these young ladies.  What I saw that morning really impressed me.  The staff at Glama Gal Tween Spa was nothing but exceptional.  They made these little girls truly feel like princesses.  They were very courteous and very professional at the same time.  I recommend this place to anyone that are looking to give their young daughters a unique lifetime experience.  Since we love photographing children of all ages this made this adventure a very special one for us at Dal Photography.

Here are some photos I took from the event.

Graduating High School

Graduating from High School

Graduating from High School is a huge step in a young person’s life.  It is a time where a young adult leaves their childhood years behind with hopes of a successful future.  Cutting the ties with the only life they’ve ever known can be both very stressful and at the same time, very exciting.  Most graduates will end up in either college or universities where they will form new friendships and new hopes.  Even though it is an exciting time for them, it’s a sad moment for them as they say goodbye to friends and leaving the life they’ve become used to.  It is all part of growing up.  It is part of becoming an independent adult and building a life of their own.

My High School years

I remember my High School years when I became a graduating senior even though this was 42 years ago.  I remember it very well.  These memories have been part of my life from the day I graduated to today.  My High School years were some of the best years of my life.  Going from Primary School to High School was a daunting thing but graduating from High School was scary.  I had become a young adult not knowing where life would take me.  Seeing some of my friends for the last time was very emotional.  I remember all of them very well even though many of them I have never seen again.  I know some have passed away because I heard about it through the grapevine.  It saddens me when I hear these news and I reminisce of those wonderful years where we laughed in the school’s hallways.

A wonderful place

I remember one of my grade 8 professor telling us one day that we would really miss our Primary School as we moved on to become High School students.  Even though the move was a little daunting I can tell you this, he was wrong.  After the first couple of weeks in my first High School year I realized that this was going to be a wonderful place to go to school.  I made new friends and developed relationships with the teachers.  It seemed like they were treating us more like adults instead of children.  We even had break periods which was really exciting.  We never had these in Primary School.  In the school cafeteria there was a juke box where we could listen to music as we chatted and played with friends.  We would take walks outside and fool around.  This time was ours and ours only.

In the last year of High School

Many times I wish I could go back to this last year in school.  I don’t know what I would do different but I know it would just be amazing to go through that last year once more.  I met my wife Lisette when I was in grade 12.  She was a grade 10 student.  I fell in love with her and for some reason I knew she was the one for me.  This made leaving High School a little more difficult but what was more difficult than that was leaving this school behind and what it represented for me.  Our friends, the sports we played, the teachers who had become our friends, the hallways where we had spent so much time walking in and the new challenges we faced all contributed to this stress.

Fond Memories

The memories of my High School year will stay with me forever.  They are some of the most cherished moments in my life.  As I graduated from High School I took a huge step towards my future.  I had become an adult without even realizing it.  This journey brought me from being a kid to adulthood.  It was a critical moment on my journey to where I am today.  I wish I had more photos of what we looked like back then but High school Senior photography did not exist at the time.  Nevertheless I have my memories and that no one can ever take these away from me.

Graduating High School Seniors

High School Senior Photography is a very popular way of showing who you are as an individual during your final high school year.  This will be, in many cases, when the student will leave their families and the life they’ve become used to and begin to make it on their own.  We believe it is very important that this moment is captured as it will never be relived.  High School Senior portraits is something you will cherish forever.  Encasing these memories in a photo album will become an heirloom to be passed on to their generations to come.

We take pride in capturing this moment in a way that best represents who they are at that time of their lives.  Photography is not about taking pictures.  It is more about capturing who the person is.  Every photo has to tell a story about the individual.  Each individual is different so each photo session has to be different.  It has to show everything about who the student is.  This is what we do and this is what we are good at.

Our High School Senior Model Reps

Each year we take on two or three High School graduating seniors to model for us and represent our studio.  Each of these reps are armed with Rep Cards.  These Rep Cards offer some huge discounts for anyone who wants to have their last High School year captured in photos.  When I say huge I mean HUGE, up to 66% off of our regular creation (session fee).  Best of all whatever you paid as your session fee you totally get it back as a print credit that you can use to purchase whatever products we sell.  With the Rep Cards you get an additional $25 credit to use against your purchases.  You have to go through one of our Reps to get these cards as it is the only way to receive these amazing savings.   These are not limited to High School Senior sessions even though they are our main target.  These can also be used for family sessions and children sessions.
